I come from a family of dyslexics. It hasn't always been easy. In fact, most of the time it was pretty difficult while we were growing up. But, God has been good and has used our journey to educate ourselves on dyslexia so that we may help others.
My mom was in an elementary classroom for over 20 years. She is now in graduate school with me finishing up her Master's of Education in Dyslexia Therapy. My dad is an administrator. He had been instrumental in implementing needed changes for dyslexic students in the schools that he has been in. My brother is practical and gifted in the ability to do anything with his hands. He is great with people and rises to the top quickly. He also wears suspenders and keeps a beard. I thought I avoided a career in education by studying Psychology. What I learned was that teachers should be psychology majors not education majors. Learning how the brain learns is the best education an educator could have.
