What I Love About Dyslexia

Dyslexia is how I learned what I wanted to do with my life.  It has required me to understand my strenghts and abilities in a deeper way than the "average" person.

I work with the coolest, smartest, most creative kids. The "work" part of my job has nothing to do with teaching my kids.  It has more to do with interacting with non-dyslexics.  (They just think so different. :))  Without being dyslexic there would be many aspects of teacing others who struggle with dyslexia that would be difficult or impossible.  It is because I am dyslexic that I understand my students.  It also gives them a reason to trust me when I ask them to do "weird" things with the alphabet in class that may seem simple or stupid.  I learn something new everyday with every child.

There are things that I h-a-t-e about being dyslexic, and I will write about those. But, it will have to wait until another day.
